Venture Description : Outside the Box Design is a digital marketing agency with one purpose: to help small and medium sized companies throughout Connecticut maximize their digital marketing efforts at an affordable price.

Why did you apply to the Impact Accelerator?
I originally spoke with reSET about the possibility of a partnership. I saw the need for small businesses to have a strong marketing start and the relationship seemed like an obvious one. After discussions with Sarah and Shane, we all came to the conclusion that Outside the Box could make a bigger impact by going through the program. Not only does it give me a chance to network and meet with other businesses, but it gives me the ability to grow Outside the Box in areas that it may be lacking which will lead to a more concrete business offering.

What makes you the most qualified to start this particular business?
Since I was 8 years old, I have been fascinated by business and marketing. I learned HTML at that age and have been growing my skills ever since. After going through the highly competitive Digital Media and Design program at UConn, I have a refined set of digital marketing and design skills. Furthermore, before and after graduation, I have been able to put those skills to use with great success in dozens of companies. From small businesses to Fortune 500s I have shown that I have what it takes to put a different and effective spin on digital marketing strategies and tactics.

How does your company create a positive social or environmental impact?
I first started Outside the Box Design when I saw the overwhelming lack of usable/functional websites in small businesses around the state. My goal with the company was to provide a set of services that small businesses could use to grow without spending 10s of thousands of dollars. As Outside the Box has continued to grow, I have stayed focused on the small business community and the goal of driving growth within it.

If you were to win the $10,000 grand prize at the Venture Showcase, what would you do with it?
One of our biggest limitations is a lack of capital for talent. If we were granted $10,000, I would put it into hiring web design and social media professionals so we can handle more clients and help more businesses grow.
