(Hartford, Conn., November 12, 2015) – reSET, the Social Enterprise Trust, (www.SocialEnterpriseTrust.org), whose mission is advancing the social enterprise sector, recently announced applications for the next edition of its accelerator are open through December 10. Tailored for impact driven businesses but available to all early-stage ventures, the Impact Accelerator was a winner of the U.S Small Business Administration Growth Accelerator Competition, and was the only Connecticut accelerator to receive the award in 2015. The primary objective of the three year-old accelerator is to test and hone entrepreneurs’ models, and to connect them to networks, customers, and resources.

Running from January 21 to June 2, reSET’s accelerator will feature a flexible program designed for busy, full-time entrepreneurs, as well as a ‘pay what you can’ model. Up to 20 entrepreneurial teams will attend five weekend summits, with 30+ optional workshops, mentor office hours, and consultations with an Entrepreneur in Residence happening during the week. A $25,000 accelerator funding pool will be available to the cohort at the end of the program; participants will also have priority access to reSET’s investment fund.

“Our accelerator guides start-ups through early stage pivots and progress, and connects them to critical resources to build a strong foundation,” said Rosie Gallant, reSET’s Director of Programs.

In addition to administering its accelerator and a year after helping pass Connecticut’s benefit corporation legislation, reSET is also currently helping its community meet the heightened transparency and accountability standards regarding their social and environmental impact. On December 8, the organization will host an Annual Benefit Report Seminar that will cover the following topics related to ensuring a benefit corporation is compliant under Connecticut Law:

  • Statutory Requirements
  • Options for Third Party Assessment Standards
  • Sample Third Party Assessment & Annual Benefit Report Walk-Through
  • Do’s and Don’ts Regarding Annual Benefit Reports

The presentation will be open to the public and led by James Woulfe, reSET’s Director of Advocacy & External Affairs. To register, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/benefit-corporation-compliance-an-overview-tickets-19432858202 (free for members; $30 for other professionals).
