Summer Intern Bio: Gabriella Garcia

Sami Jensen • July 24, 2019

This blog series offers a glimpse into reSET’s summer internship program in entrepreneurship. The series captures interns’ experiences, both with reSET’s curriculum and the startups that they are working alongside. Gabriella Garcia is graduate student at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.

My name is Gabriella Garcia and I am a graduate student at Quinnipiac University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management.

I became a reSET intern because I loved the idea of working with a startup company, and I wanted hands-on experience. I also loved the idea of developing my own startup company with one of the other interns.

I am currently working with Kiyomi Beauty Box , a Korean beauty and skincare subscription box. Customers can purchase the subscription bi-monthly and they will receive between 5 to 7 full sized products. Kiyomi Beauty Box launched in January 2019 and is already gaining so much traction. While interning for Kiyomi Beauty Box, I have helped with creating content for their Instagram, Pinterest, and newsletters. I have also helped with setting up and creating games for events. We are currently in the process of creating a Kickstarter campaign.

Aside from working with Kiyomi Beauty Box, I have been working with another intern named Joe to create an app that helps recent college graduates pay off their student loans. The app is called The Money Oyster and it is a budgeting app focused on helping college graduates’ budget their money so they can pay off their student debt in what year they choose to pay it off in. We decided to focus on this aspect of debt because there is a crisis happening with student debt. Our app is trying to help change the spending habits of post-graduates.
