Venture Description : Her Move is a woman-owned boutique recruitment consultancy focused on hiring women into critical leadership positions at growing software companies.

Why did you apply to the Impact Accelerator?
I launched Her Move in April of this year, with the mission of connecting amazing women with incredible careers. Entering my first full calendar year, I’m looking to the Impact Accelerator to provide me with the expertise and resources to help me refine my business model and roadmap, and collaboration to determine how to further my reach and impact as a social enterprise.

What makes you the most qualified to start this particular business?
I’ve been in internal corporate Talent Acquisition for the last fifteen years, with the most recent five being in a global leadership role for a software company that more than doubled in size during my tenure. My internal teams have always had recruitment diversity goals, but that was never the case when we engaged with external recruitment firms. Through Her Move, I bring the approach I’ve always taken as a diversity-focused internal Recruiter to help the companies I partner with expand their reach, uncover barriers to entry, and see a diverse slate of candidates for their most critical openings.

How does your company create a positive social or environmental impact?
McKinsey’s 2019 Women in the Workplace study found that only one in five senior leaders is a woman, and one in 25 is a woman of color. Since start-ups often have either limited or no internal recruitment resources, external Recruiters are a major candidate source for them. This means these innovative companies creating enormous impact in our lives are being staffed without any diversity focus, perpetuating these statistics. As an external Recruiter who not only provides access to women candidates in leadership but creates awareness with the companies I consult with around diverse talent acquisition practices, I am connecting more amazing women with incredible careers at the companies who shape our world.

If you were to win the $10,000 grand prize at the Venture Showcase, what would you do with it?
Currently, I can only effectively manage five searches at any given time. To make the greatest impact, I need to speed up my recruitment cycle time and increase my capacity. With $10K, I will invest in marketing on the candidate side so that more women recognize Her Move when I reach out to them. I will also hire an additional resource to help me source and coordinate interviews (which is currently my biggest time suck.)
