#CTBC- The New Benefit Corporation Law in Connecticut Goes Into Effect October, 1st

ewalsh • September 16, 2014

We are just weeks away from the effective date of the new Benefit Corporation law in Connecticut, and reSET has been spreading the word that this corporate option can bring together both profit and purpose. reSET views social enterprise and Benefit Corporations as catalysts to bring about social and environmental change, generate new businesses and jobs, and rejuvenate communities. We have talked with dozens of businesses that agree, and are preparing to register as Benefit Corporations on the effective date, October 1st.

What we need now is your help to broaden our public education campaign about what Benefit Corporations are, what they can do, and how they can do it.

How can you help?

  1. A great source of information is the Connecticut Benefit Corporations website. It is packed with information about Benefit Corporations, and it’s the perfect place for you to send people who want to learn more.
  2. For those with more in-depth questions, you can direct them to James Woulfe at reSET, jwoulfe@socialenterprisetrust.org.
  3. You can also help by posting on social media websites: post a note of support to your Facebook page, tweet about Benefit Corporations, or join our #CTBC campaign effort. Send us an image of yourself, a quote in support of Benefit Corporations, and we will post them online through Twitter.

The Benefit Corporation law is available in Connecticut due to committed community volunteers who stepped forw

ard to support it. This is another tangible opportunity to make a difference. By spreading the word to friends, family, and colleagues, you will help build public awareness that Benefit Corporations are a new business option for creating solutions in Connecticut.
