Hartford non-profit reSET, or the Social Enterprise Trust, was awarded $50,000 by U.S. Small Business Administration for its startup accelerator program Monday.
ReSET’s LaunchPad for Impact was one of 80 winners of the SBA’s second annual Growth Accelerator Fund Competition, which awarded a total of $4.4 million to organizations for their work helping startup companies in various industries. ReSET was the only winner from Connecticut.
“These accelerators, also known as incubators and innovation hubs, are the gathering place for today’s innovators and disrupters,” SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said in a written statement. “Through the wide-spread outreach of this competition, we are able to reach entrepreneurial ecosystems across the country.”
While traditional incubation programs provide resources to any startup, the LaunchPad for Impact accelerator focuses on helping social enterprise companies, which use business and commerce for the purpose of social welfare.
