On January 14th, reSET launched its campaign to adopt Benefit Corporation legislation into Connecticut law. Three weeks before the opening of the 2014 legislative session, Governor Malloy, elected officials, community leaders and supporters of the social enterprise movement joined together to pledge their support. The day’s events attracted widespread press attention — more than 20 stories were published within 24 hours, within and outside Connecticut.
We started the day with a visit from Governor Dannel P. Malloy, who announced that he will be introducing benefit corporation legislation as a Governor’s Bill in 2014. He was joined by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Senator Gary LeBeau, Representative Chris Peron, and Representative Gregory Haddad. Watch video of the press conference HERE.
