S.B. 23 is sent out of Appropriations Committee

ewalsh • April 24, 2014

Earlier today S.B. 23 an Act Concerning Benefit Corporation Legislation was voted out of the Appropriations Committee! This means there are only two steps left on the bill’s pathway to passage!

S.B. 23 will be sent to the Senate floor, and ready for consideration next week. Pending a vote, it will then head over to the House of Representatives for one final vote.

After that it’s (dare we say it?!) time to celebrate!

We are ecstatic to finally be out of all of the committees and can see the finish line. With only a little over a week to go, Connecticut is well on its way to becoming the latest state to allow for this new type of business structure, which provides a structure for businesses to leverage the power of the market to create a positive social impact in their communities, and the environment—the Benefit Corporation is on its way.

Just breathe, we’re almost there!
